The Wheat Breeding and Genetics program at Michigan State University is seeking highly motivated students to work as a member of the wheat variety development and research program. This positions primary role will be to support the greenhouse, laboratory, and field activities. Work location will be primarily located at the MSU Mason Research Farm and the on-campus Research Greenhouse Complex. Travel to off-site locations may be required. This position will extend through the spring semester.
Responsibilities may involve:
Field research including: collecting field data, field maintenance, tissue sampling, seed processing/preparations, harvest, and planting.
Greenhouse activities including: daily tasks (planting, watering, fertilizing, scouting, and harvest), maintenance of greenhouse and growth chamber facilities, tissue sampling, disease inoculations, etc.
Lab-based activities including: seed inventory, preparing supplies for tissue sampling, etc.
